Death Angel Releases Statement On Tour Cancellation Following Drummer’s Remarks

There’s definitely some tension brewing behind the scenes in the Death Angels camp right now. On Monday, we reported that Death Angel was dropping out of the WASP tour, to be replaced by Armored Saint. Everyone assumed it was because Death Angel vocalist Mark Osegueda is the lead singer for Kerry King’s solo project and will therefore be busy touring with Kerry King, something he wasn’t able to publicly reveal at the time they originally booked the tour with WASP.

Okay, fine, fine, they had to cancel. Who would have expected that this would cause drama? Well, apparently it did, because Death Angel drummer Will Carrol made a few comments on social media where he called the reason for the tour cancellation “obvious” and called it “BETRAYAL,” in all caps so you know it was, like, a big betrayal.

Well, in a move that was likely meant to smooth things over but seems likely to draw more attention to the drama, Death Angel has released a statement on its Facebook page, stating:

“In light of recent events, we would like to set the record straight on a few things. We have unfortunately had to cancel the WASP tour due to various unforeseen circumstances and numerous scheduling conflicts that have arisen. We are beyond grateful to Blackie Lawless and the entire WASP camp for so graciously giving us this opportunity and wish them a very successful tour.”

“Death Angel is committed to bringing you, the fans, only the best we have to offer and we look forward to hearing from you very soon.

“Respectfully,

Angel of Death

There’s absolutely nothing more metal than ending a statement with the word “Respectfully,” right? It seems like the band is trying to do damage control, but I’m not sure they’re really in control of anything right now.

Lamb-goat There is actually very little conflict between the planned WASP tour and the dates announced by Kerry King. The only date that really conflicts is November 6th, when King is scheduled to play in Mexico while the WASP tour runs from Denver to Minneapolis. It seems like Death Angel would only need to cancel for two days and let Osegueda fly to Mexico, right? Why did they have to pull out of this whole thing?
