Speaking of brands stepping on Lensbaby and Lomography’s toes, Samyang isn’t the only one encroaching on their turf. PolarPro also now offers a retro-style analog lens for mirrorless cameras. It’s called the PolarPro LightLeak. And as the name suggests, it adds light leak effects to your images.

The PolarPro LightLeak is available in three different focal lengths of 16mm, 28mm and 50mm with a fixed aperture of f/11 and fixed focus. It is also available for a range of different mirrorless mounts including Canon RF, Fuji X, Nikon Z and Sony E.

PolarPro Lightleak – Timeless Nostalgia

It’s interesting to see companies known for their high quality delve into the depths of imperfect lenses from the photographic past. It’s as if they’re trying to perfect imperfection in some way. But the looks these lenses produce are often very interesting and unique.

Polarpro LightLeak lenses are no exception. Thanks to an adjustable light leak effect, it can be as strong or as weak as you want. And the result is dreamy photos and sequences.

All three lenses have a fixed focal length and a fixed focusing distance of 1m to infinity (3m to infinity on the 50mm). This means you use them essentially as you would a compact lens. This means there are no aperture or focus adjustments to worry about.

This is an interesting set of lenses that produce interesting images. It won’t be for everyone, and even those who like it won’t use them to shoot everything. If these lenses were ever released in Micro Four Thirds mount, I’d even consider getting them for a few video projects.
