German Shepherd fatally shot in road rage incident

Nashville police are investigating after they say a German Shepherd was fatally shot during a road rage incident.

Hermitage detectives are trying to identify the person who fired shots at a vehicle around 11:20 p.m. Wednesday on Bell Road near Smith Springs Road.

The victim, who has not been identified by police, was driving north on Bell Road when she noticed a Dodge Ram pickup truck following closely behind her, police said.

As the victim stopped at a red light in the left turn lane, the suspect pulled out a gun and fired into the passenger side, shooting through the rear window, police said.

The victim ducked down and pulled into a nearby subdivision, where she discovered her dog had been shot, police said.

The suspect fled north on Bell Road.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
