19th Hole “Autumn Encore” Concerts Tomorrow, September 19th with Bob Hemenger

The Community Foundation Serving Southwest Colorado is excited to announce a concert fundraiser in September.

Is there a better time to host an outdoor concert than when the mild fall weather gives way to golden leaves and blue skies? If that sounds like the perfect setting, we have the perfect event! The Community Foundation is thrilled to host our first Encore of the 19th Hole fall concert with special guest Bob Hemenger. The concert will take place at the Pagosa Springs Golf Club tomorrow, Thursday, September 19th, from 5:00pm to 6:30pm.

Proceeds from the $10 admission and silent auction support the Community Foundation’s Archuleta County Fund, which provides annual grants to local organizations. The recipient of this year’s $10,500 unsolicited grant will be announced at the concert.

Square Top Bar-B-Que will have food and drinks available for purchase, so bring a chair or blanket and cozy up on the lawn to listen to some fun music and for a good cause! We ask that you please leave your furry friends at home.

The Archuleta County Fund is a quasi-endowed fund that provides an unsolicited grant each year, matched with another fund through the Community Foundation to create a greater impact for the grant recipient. A local committee decides which organization will receive the funding. This year, the fund is awarding $10,500 to the Pagosa Nordic Club. The Pagosa Nordic Club plans to use the funding to expand its youth Nordic ski program to middle and high school students. The purchase of classic cross-country ski equipment to complement their existing cross-country ski equipment will allow students to experience both cross-country skiing disciplines and support healthy lifestyles for Archuleta County youth.

“The Pagosa Nordic Club is honored to be selected to receive this grant from the Community Foundation’s Archuleta County Fund,” said James Dickhoff, president of the Pagosa Nordic Club. “The youth Nordic ski program exposes our children to a fun and physical winter activity to promote fitness, friendships and an appreciation of the outdoors with nature.”

“We are thrilled to have this grant opportunity for the Archuleta County nonprofit community,” said Briggen Wrinkle, executive director of the Community Foundation. “The Autumn Encore is a perfect opportunity to raise funds and awareness for the fund while spotlighting an exceptional local nonprofit.”

In addition to raising funds through ticket sales, a silent auction will allow attendees to bid on a variety of gift cards and merchandise from local businesses, as well as a three-night stay at a Telluride condo. All proceeds will go directly to the Archuleta County Fund, making it a more substantial source of grants for local organizations. Don’t forget to bring your checkbooks and join the fun.

All profits go directly to supporting non-profit organizations through generous sponsors.

In 2022, our first Archuleta County Fund grant of $10,000 was awarded to Habitat for Humanity of Archuleta County to support their project to build more affordable housing. In 2023, $10,000 was awarded to Wings Early Childhood Center to provide appliances for their building expansion.

The Community Foundation invests and manages contributions made to our five counties. Our goal is to build substantial funds for the community over time.
