5 people displaced after 3 story home catches fire, say firefighters

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– Five people have been left without a home after it was caught on fire Friday morning, says CRFD.

Columbia-Richland firefighters were extinguished at fire at a three story home in the 1900 block of Barnwell Street on Friday morning, Sept. 20.

Shortly before 6 am fire crews were called to the scene and when they arrived firefighters found smoke coming from the home.

Firefighters entered the house and extinguished the fire, which was in one of the bedrooms, according to Columbia-Richland Fire Department.

All occupants made it out safely and there were no injuries.

The fire marshals office investigated and determined the fire got started due to a hoverboard that was charging in the room.
