Mumbai Local Train Update: Central Railway announces mega blockade on suburban sections today due to maintenance work – Railways News

The Central Railway on Sunday (September 22) announced a mega-blockade in Mumbai, aimed at completing various engineering and maintenance works on its suburban sections. This essential maintenance is crucial to ensure safety and reliability of train services, according to a press release issued today.

Railway officials have urged passengers to plan their journeys accordingly and cooperate with the administration during this maintenance period. The Central Railway has stressed that these mega maintenance blocks are essential for the continued safety and security of railway infrastructure and services.

Affected railway lines and timetables

The massive blockade will affect several key railway lines, with specific schedules and services affected. The Up and Down slow line between Thane and Kalyan stations will be closed from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. During this period, the Down slow/semi-fast services leaving Mulund between 10:43 am and 3:44 pm will be diverted to the Down fast line, stopping at Thane, Kalwa, Mumbra, Diva and Dombivli stations, and are expected to run with around 10 minutes delay.

Conversely, UP slow/semi-fast trains departing from Kalyan between 10:36 am and 3:51 pm will also be diverted. These trains will run on the UP fast line up to Mulund and then return to the slow line, arriving at the destination about 10 minutes behind schedule.

Local train adjustments

Local train services will also be adjusted during the mega-blockade. The last local service before the blockade on the down slow line will be the Titwala local train from CSMT Mumbai at 9:53 am, while the first service after the blockade will be the Badlapur local train at 3:05 pm. For the up slow line, the Kalyan local train at 10:25 am will be the last train before the blockade, while the Parel local train will depart from Thane at 4:17 pm as the first service after the maintenance work.

The last local service before the block on the Down Harbor line will depart from CSMT Mumbai at 10:18 am, while the first service after the block will depart at 3:44 pm. For the Up Harbor line, the last train will depart from Panvel at 10:05 am, with the first service after the block scheduled for 3:45 pm.

Impact on port line services

The mega block will extend to Up and Down Harbor Line between Kurla and Vashi stations from 11:10 am to 4:10 pm. During this period, Down Harbor Line services from CSMT Mumbai to Panvel, Belapur and Vashi between 10:34 am and 3:36 pm, and Up Harbor Line services from Panvel, Belapur and Vashi to CSMT Mumbai from 10:16 am to 3:47 pm, will be cancelled.

To mitigate the impact, special suburban trains will run on CSMT Mumbai-Kurla and Panvel-Vashi sections during the lockdown period. Also, Harbour Line passengers will be allowed to travel between Thane and Vashi/Nerul stations from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.
