The Commission’s response and the current situation
Following widespread outcry, the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) has come under scrutiny. The commission released an answer key for the exam, but the final results were delayed due to the ongoing allegations. The JSSC responded by giving applicants the opportunity to submit evidence to support their claims.
On October 6, 2024, the commission invited the complainants to present themselves with solid evidence at the JSSC office in Ranchi. JSSC Secretary Sudhir Gupta stressed that the investigation into the alleged irregularities was ongoing. The commission notably asked the complainants to provide original evidence, such as CDs, USB sticks and photographs, purported to document the leaked documents. However, previous documents were found to be empty or incomplete, delaying the investigation process.
A letter from the JSSC said: “The complainants have been asked to submit evidence of complaints related to examination irregularities and their source, along with an affidavit to the commission by October 7. If this is not done, the commission will make a decision. final decision based on current evidence.”
The notice clarifies that no affidavit regarding the veracity of the photos and videos seen in the USB drives provided has yet to be submitted and the investigation remains incomplete due to lack of substantial evidence.
Growing pressure on state government
Pressure is now mounting on the Jharkhand state government and Chief Minister Hemant Soren to intervene in the matter. Many students and political figures are urging the government to take a stand and protect the integrity of the state’s education system. A user of क ्षा व्यवस्था को बचाने के लिए छात्रों के हित मे ं “

Roughly translates to- “There was large-scale corruption in the JSSC CGL exam, Hemant Soren. The government still has the option to cancel the exam itself, removing this stain and ensuring that there is no injustice towards unemployed young people.”

As the controversy deepens, it remains unclear what course of action the JSSC or the state government will take. The commission gave the complainants until October 7 to provide solid evidence of the irregularities. If substantial evidence of the alleged paper leaks were presented, it could lead to cancellation of the exam, as demanded by thousands of aspirants. On the other hand, if no such evidence is found, one would expect the results to be announced, amid unrest within the student community.
