Police announce annual Halloween event in Aberdeen


Aberdeen, NJ – Aberdeen Township PBA Local 163 announces its annual Halloween Trunk or Treat event scheduled for Saturday, October 19th. The event will take place at Matawan Regional High School, located at 440 Atlantic Avenue, from 1 to 5 p.m. The association calls for more trunks to participate, offering companies an ideal opportunity to engage with the community.

Interested participants in the Trunk Design Competition must register online. They must be present by 12:15pm to ensure timely access as late entries pose security concerns and will not be permitted. The PBA is encouraging families in attendance to donate an unopened bag of candy. These candy donations will support trunk owners if they experience shortages during the event. Donations can be dropped off at the designated PBA trailer at the front of the line.

Additionally, the PBA is offering t-shirts for sale during the event. T-shirts will cost R$20.00 and hoodies will cost R$30.00. To guarantee a place to participate in the vehicle, interested parties must register on their website www.aberdeenpba163.com.

  • Suspect charged in fatal Mount Rainier shooting

    Mount Rainier, MD** – The Prince George’s County Police Department Homicide Unit has identified and charged 39-year-old Louis Gregory of Brentwood in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in Mount Rainier. Gregory is charged with the murder of 22-year-old Washington, D.C. resident Freyer Yanez-Salas

    The incident occurred in the 3400 block of Rhode Island Avenue on September 23 at approximately 7:30 p.m. when Mount Rainier police officers responded to a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found Yanez-Salas deceased inside a vehicle with gunshot wounds. Two other adults, a man and a woman, were found at the scene with serious injuries and were transported to a hospital for treatment.

    Investigations suggest the shooting resulted from a dispute involving the suspect. Gregory now faces first- and second-degree murder charges, along with additional related charges. He is currently in the custody of the Department of Corrections and has no bond.

    The Prince George’s County Police Department Homicide Unit continues to investigate homicides in the city of Mount Rainier.

  • Suspect charged in connection with fatal April shooting

    Oxon Hill, MD – Detectives from the Prince George’s County Police Homicide Unit have filed charges against 23-year-old Javon Moore of Washington, D.C. in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in April. Moore is accused in the death of 19-year-old Oxon Hill resident Tyron Avent.

    The incident occurred on April 11 at approximately 5:30 p.m. when officers received a report of a shooting near Neptune Avenue and Audrey Lane. Upon arrival, police discovered Avent outside suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

    Preliminary investigation indicates that Moore allegedly shot Avent and subsequently fled the scene. Reports confirm that Moore and Avent knew each other before the incident.

    Moore faces first- and second-degree murder charges, as well as other related crimes. He is currently in the custody of the Department of Corrections.
