Mother and son die from electrocution in Rautahat

A mother and her son were electrocuted to death in Paroha municipality of Rautahat district on Wednesday.

According to Inspector Umashankar Gupta of District Police, Rautahat, Lalitadevi Sah, 35, and her 18-year-old son Arjit Sah were electrocuted while operating an electric motor.

The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon while they were using the engine to wash clothes. Both were rushed to the Provincial Hospital in Janakpur for treatment but succumbed to their injuries that night.

Inspector Gupta confirmed that an investigation into the incident has been launched.

Electric shock incidents have increased in recent years. Since 2018, a total of 449 people have lost their lives due to electrocution in the eight districts of Madhesh province, data from the Madhesh Provincial Police Office stated.
