Gene Simmons Slammed for ‘Creepy’ Comments About ‘DWTS’ Contestants

Instead of setting the sky on fire, Gene Simmons set X (formerly Twitter) on fire… but for the wrong reasons.

When appearing as a guest judge on Tuesday night’s “Hair Metal Night” episode of “Dancing With the Stars,” some social media users criticized the retired KISS bassist and singer, 75, for making “creepy” comments to the show’s dancers.

Many X users criticized Simmons for centering her comments on the contestants’ appearance rather than their actual dance routine.

During one point in the Oct. 8 episode, the former rocker told “Pretty Little Liars” star Chandler Kinney, 24, that she “fogged up my glasses.”

“I don’t know what to tell you. You move me, not just with your spins and so on, but with your beautiful face and how moved you were by it,” he said, per Cosmopolitan.

He later randomly commented that professional dancer Witney Carson is “one of the most beautiful women on the planet.”

X users reacted to Simmons’ “horrible” comment.

Never bring Gene Simmons back as a judge. This was horrible and very uncomfortable. Creepy uncle vibes for all the ladies. That… Oh, yes. No. #DWTS pic.twitter.com/p7QrvHPFQc

Other X users accused Simmons of apparently “singling out” the show’s black contestants. Reality TV star Phaedra Parks received 7s from the show’s three regular judges, but only got a 5 from Simmons.

X users weren’t the only ones to criticize the “Lick It Up” singer’s criticism.

Us Weekly spoke with Kinney and her professional dance partner, Brandon Armstrong, after the show about Simmons’ statements.

“Brandon has more feelings than I do,” the actress told the channel, adding that his only response was “LOL”.

However, Armstrong expressed stronger opinions about the musician’s words.

“I said, ‘Wait a minute,’” he explained, “I have two younger sisters. I heard that. I said, ‘Wait, wait, wait.’”
