The Supreme Court of the Russian Federation will consider a complaint about life imprisonment against former senator Arashukov

The Supreme Court will consider a complaint for life imprisonment against a former senator of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic to Rauf Arashukov on October 23, according to court records.

“Hearing (open session): 10/23/2024”, says the process.

The people in the case are former senator Rauf Arashukov, his father Raul Arashukovformer senior investigator Andrei Filippovformer director of the Gazprom Mezhregiongaz Stavropol branch in Mineralnye Vody Guzer Khashukaevformer first deputy head of the RF IC department for KCR Kazbek Bulatov and the former head of the Center for Combating Extremism of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the region Timur Betuganov.

The verdict against all defendants in the case was handed down in December 2022. Police officers detained Rauf Arashukov on January 30, 2019, during the plenary session of the Federation Council. The Arashukovs were sentenced to life in prison for contract killings, their case was heard separately, the other four defendants received sentences ranging from 5 to 22 years. Additionally, Arashukov Sr. was found guilty of embezzling more than 4.4 billion rubles from Gazprom structures in southern Russia. The verdict has come into force, recalls RIA Novosti.
