The upper is made up of a series of smooth suede panels coated with a special water-repellent finish. But what really sets the Cygnal apart is the midsole underneath. This beefy unit appears to be at least an inch and a half thick. It’s full of sharp geometric lines and is made from a special foam that the Beaverton brand calls ‘All Terrain Compound’. This is the same material that Nike uses for some of its biggest track runners, so even if you should not run your next 10k with these, it doesn’t mean you couldn’t.

The Nike Cygnal ‘Desert Ore’ will release in the coming weeks at Nike, the Snkrs app and select retailers worldwide for $180.
