How to get Maria’s ending

The game’s developers struck gold with this faithful version of Silent Hill 2 and launched every new feature that modern gaming consoles could offer. The Bloober team realized the significance of the original version and aimed to deliver the same level of fear with something new for this remake.

There are a few ways to end James’ search for his dead wife in the spooky town of Silent Hill. Maria’s ending is one of many possible outcomes and is much harder to achieve than exiting safely or ending the story with a wet death.

James could be a protector of Maria in the Silent Hill 2 remake

The gaming community was forever changed after experiencing the original version of Silent Hill 2 many years ago and the Bloober team believed this was a story worth retelling through Unreal Engine 5. Fans of the original may need to refresh their memory and remember how to acquire Maria’s ending for their initial playthrough.

Players must give Maria the attention she needs and keep her safe from any threats to achieve this ending.

Maria will meet James on the west side of South Vale. They will then visit the Silent Hill Historical Society, where James first saw what would later become known as the Red Pyramid Thing, better known as the Head of the Pyramid. This creature is known to be the ultimate manifestation of James’ guilt and regret over what happened to his late wife, Mary.

The two characters can team up in room 108 of Jack’s Inn, where Maria will examine all the clothes lying around. Players can request James to make some comments about their appearance to build a friendly relationship between the two characters and solidify their relationship to increase the chances of getting Maria Ending.

Players should keep an eye on Maria whenever an enemy is nearby. James will act as Maria’s protector in segments like this and players are responsible for her health and well-being, just as they are with James. They will acquire Angela’s knife and it is best to ignore its existence. Inspecting the knife in the inventory will represent James’ willingness to inflict self-harm.

Avoid looking at Mary’s photograph or listening to her monologue. Silent Hill 2 players should try their best to shift their focus to Maria instead of Mary. This is where James will begin to see Mary as a replacement for Mary.

After separating at Brookhaven Hospital, check on her before leaving. Doing this represents James’ care for Mary and will become his new will to live.

Maria is an escape for James in the Silent Hill 2 remake

James had a dark and terrible past for what he did to his wife. Mary was sick and he put her out of her misery, which led him down a dark path trying to find solace after her death. Returning to Silent Hill was meant for him to find answers and a reason to continue without his wife by his side.

Mary will leave town with James once all of the above requirements are met, and this can be seen as the beginning of her redemption; however, from another point of view, it is clear that James is looking for a way out to escape his past. James killed Mary in cold blood and tried to find a way to be with her at the end of In Water.

However, this ending will show Mary and James leaving in their car while he fails to learn his lesson or come to terms with his wife’s death. Running away from a terrible sin will begin an endless cycle, leaving James broken forever.

Protecting Maria and moving forward with Maria are the basic requirements to achieve this ending. Instead of James giving up on life, this is the beginning of a new one in Silent Hill 2and the subtle ending teases that Mary will suffer the same fate as Mary with an impending illness.
