Escaped prisoner from southern Colorado caught after hours-long search

CANON CITY, Colo. (KKTV) – After a several-hour search, an inmate was captured after escaping from a Fremont County jail.

The Colorado Department of Corrections reported 34-year-old Leaf Glimpse escaped Monday morning.

“Upon discovery of the escape, the Canon City Search Team was immediately activated and the Office of the Inspector General is conducting an investigation into the incident. Authorities have been notified and a search is underway,” a press release read.

Glimpse escaped from Arrowhead Correctional Center in the East Canon Complex, where he was serving an eight-year sentence for robbery. Glimpse was considered a restrictive minimum prison term.

Glimpse was found on CDOC property after “an intensive and highly coordinated search.”

CDOC said it worked closely with local law enforcement agencies and captured Glimpse around 6 p.m.

“Public safety continues to be CDOC’s highest priority and we are grateful for the support of our law enforcement partners who have helped in this effort,” CDOC said.
