DART services suspended in south Dublin after ‘serious’ online incident

DART services remain suspended in south Dublin this morning following a “serious” incident on the line.

The suspension comes amid a morning of chaos for passengers following a power cut and several accidents in the capital.

It is understood the incident occurred between Dún Laoighaire and Bray in Co Wicklow, with all trams in the area being halted immediately.

Irish Rail has confirmed that services will run northbound from Dún Laoighaire towards Howth and Malahide, and southbound services will end before Mallin station.

No northbound services currently operate from Bray or Greystones, and tickets already purchased are being accepted on Dublin Bus services.

An Irish Rail spokesperson said: ‘Services remain suspended between Bray and Dún Laoighaire due to an incident on the line.

“Services currently running between Dún Laoighre and Howth/Malahide with some delays and changes.

‘Dublin Bus will honor train tickets in the affected area.’

An earlier announcement from the railway company which operates DART, Rail and Intercounty services says: ‘Services between Dún Laoighaire and Bray are suspended until further notice due to a serious incident on the line. Emergency services are on the way.

The incident also led to significant delays on national rail services, with the Connolly/Rosslare service departing Bray more than an hour late.

Commuters were advised to avoid using DART and rail services in the area and to look for alternative solutions for the foreseeable future.
