‘A Colonial Apparition’ Cruises Will Be Offered This Holiday Season

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Four tours along the Cape Fear River centered around a spooky story will be offered on October 27th and December 15th.

According to the Burgwin-Wright House and Gardens, tickets are now on sale for the popular “A Colonial Apparition” tours. Interested parties can purchase tickets on the Wilmington Water Tours website, by calling 910-338-3134 or by visiting the company office at 212 S Water St.

“The 90-minute cruise tells the story of the Steamer Wilmington, a beloved pleasure cruiser that once operated on the Cape Fear River, and the snowy night of Christmas Eve when its crew supposedly encountered the ghosts of two Scottish Highlanders killed during the Revolution Americana,” the ad states. “The story was first published as ‘A Colonial Apparition’ by famous local historian James Sprunt in 1898.

“Suitable for the Halloween and Christmas seasons, the cruise will be offered twice this fall.”

Themed cocktails and a full bar will be offered on the tour. Tickets are $35 for adults and $15 for children.
