David Jason shocked by new family update after discovering secret daughter and grandson

The Only Fools and Horses star Sir David Jason discovered he had a long-lost daughter and 10-year-old grandson after she requested a paternity test in 2022

Sir David Jason shared his surprise at his grandson Charlie’s growth spurt after a six-month gap since they last met. The Only Fools and Horses icon discovered he had a secret daughter he didn’t know existed for over 50 years until she got in touch in 2022.

Abi Harris is the daughter of David’s former Under Milk Wood co-star, Jennifer Hill, with whom he had a brief romance. Suspecting he could be her father for many years, she decided to get in touch and ask him to take a paternity test, but insisted she didn’t want financial support.

After confirmation, David not only had to accept having another daughter, but also his 10-year-old son, Charlie. Speaking on the Full Disclosure with James O’Brien podcast, the actor said of the reconciliation: “We’re getting closer and closer.”

Discussing a recent visit, he continued: “With the grandson, funny just to mention, they came over a few weeks ago on Sunday and he likes to play, which we do.

“But suddenly, because I hadn’t seen them for about six months… so the last time I saw him, he was like this (a shorter height) right, and now he’s my height,” reports the Express. “I couldn’t get over how tall he suddenly changed. And that’s part of growing up, part of life and everything.”

The actor said it “really didn’t cross his mind” that he could be Abi’s father or that his previous relationship with Jennifer could have resulted in a child. The puzzle pieces seemed to fit Abi, as she noticed the similarity in nose shape between her and David and heard things about his relationship with his mother.

Abi initially believed that Geoffrey Davion, her mother’s husband until his death in 1996, was her biological father. Now David, along with his wife Lady Gill White, 62, and daughter Sophie, 22, are warmly embracing their newfound family members.
