The main trends of New York bridal fashion week

With wedding-appropriate looks hitting the runways of top ready-to-wear brands during fashion month, traditional bridal ateliers have dedicated themselves even more to their craft, producing stunning couture pieces that showcase their expertise with a touch of vanguard.

So it’s no surprise that at New York Bridal Fashion Week AW25, the bridal industry was buzzing with excitement around the latest designers and stunning collections from heritage brands, reflecting the growing general interest in the world of bridal fashion. What has traditionally been a week dedicated to market engagements for buyers and bridal press has turned into a larger celebration of the industry, complete with appearances from celebrities and the influencer set.

Bridal fashion, of course, stood out amidst the hustle and bustle. Designers leveraged their creativity to create collections that nod to the traditional, but also ensure that people getting married next year can have a standout wedding moment. Several trends from this season marked us to give us an idea of what brides will wear to next autumn’s weddings.

Below, see all the main trends from Bridal Fashion Week.

The words “cinched,” “snatched,” and “sculpted” were constantly repeated throughout the presentations, as it was rare to find a collection this season that didn’t incorporate at least one corseted piece. The rise of Wiederhoeft—which debuted its size-inclusive corset program at NYFW—was apparent as many murmured about the brand’s strong, unique bridal offerings. Boned corsets were seen at high-profile KYHA and WONÁ Concept fashion shows, with many pieces offering elegant low-waisted looks. Other collections have taken more subtle takes on the corset, as many dresses include hidden bones, which offer brides the ability to adjust their figures without revealing the corset underneath.

Last season’s low-waisted trend hasn’t gone anywhere. However, the shape of this popular silhouette has changed slightly to embrace an even more flattering Basque waist. Defined with a U- or V-shaped dip at the waist, this style helps create that sculpted, cropped look thanks to the curve of the fabric. Corsets helped Enaura embrace the trend in many of her finely beaded styles, while Galia Lahav used basque waists in many of her lace-covered dresses. Other designers like Rime Arodaky have incorporated the silhouette in fabrics like duchess satin for a softer yet still sculpted look.

Engagement rings won’t be the only thing sparkling as you walk down the aisle in 2025. Many of this season’s dresses incorporate lots of crystals, pearls, and sparkling elements to bring sparkle to wedding day ensembles. Canary Island designer Marco & Maria made a splash with his intricately detailed embroidered jewelery details, while Hermione De Paula’s collection featured stunning beaded and crystal looks that could take you down the aisle and to the after-party. The bride who wants to fully embrace a shimmering style should turn to Francesca Miranda’s new line—in particular, a silver beaded style in the collection that sparkles with every movement.

Unique textures

The not-so-traditional bride will be thrilled to find a series of pieces with bold textures that deviate from the norm this season. Honor showcased whimsical pieces featuring iridescent fabrics, sculptural additions and diaphanous finishes for a collection inspired by a space invasion on the prairie. Lein created pieces in suede and lace, as well as a striking feather dress with a distinct “hay” texture that nods to designer Meredith Stoecklein’s Sun Valley roots. For a more traditional but still striking texture, check out the new House of Gilles collection by Gilles and Chloé Mendel, which plays with fringes and beading in couture constructions.

tulle skirts

While tulle has been a frequent addition to the construction of bridal pieces over the past few decades, the classic tulle skirt hasn’t made much of a comeback in the wedding world until this season. Vivienne Westwood has just launched her new custom bridal collection with a voluminous tulle petticoat to pair with an elegant low-waisted ivory corset, while season standout J Andreatta kept the fabric soft, drapey and sweet in her Calista gown with accents satin and lace. For brides who just want the drama of tulle for part of the night, the Mark Ingram Collection has launched a unique strapless gown with a full tulle skirt that can be removed to reveal a Mikado hem underneath.

It’s no surprise that lace continues to reign supreme as bridal designers’ favorite fabric. Monique Lhuillier has once again infused beautiful lace into several of her dresses to create classic looks for a romantic bride. Jaclyn Whyte’s collection was also notable for its stunning use of unique, high-quality patterns to create fully lace pieces that range from traditional to dramatic and sexy. Lace accents were also quite popular this season, with brands like Savage & Hunt creating dresses that incorporated lace details with luxurious silk silhouettes.

As an outfit change has become an essential part of the wedding experience, bridal brands have followed suit and created expertly crafted pieces that are perfect for the after-party. A shorter hemline doesn’t necessarily mean skimping on couture quality, as designers like Elie Saab have created gorgeous minis with incredible fabrics and hand-appliquéd details that evoke their regular-size dresses. Evening looks can also be quite sexy. Brands like Milla Nova showcased many sheer, lingerie-inspired designs that brides could wear after older relatives had returned home for the evening.
