Only those who remain silent can survive in AMMA: Mallika Sukumaran

Mollywood actress Mallika Sukumaran has criticized the functioning of the Association of Malayalam Film Artists (AMMA) and said that only those who remain silent can survive within the association. She also said the association was biased in selecting the beneficiaries of its monthly pension scheme. Mallika never minced words about the association, which banned both late actor Sukumaran and his actor-son Prithviraj.
Mallika, in her previous interviews, stated that Sukumaran was banned for criticizing and requesting a change in the association’s bylaws. Prithviraj also faced a three-month ban for acting in Vinayan’s directorial ‘Albudha Dweepu’.

AMMA has faced criticism for failing to adequately address film industry issues since the Hema Commission report was made public. The executive committee led by actor Mohanlal was disbanded after allegations of sexual assault were leveled against its top leaders.
