Simmons Farm announces closure after 25 years of operation

Simmons Far will close its doors on December 1st. This marks the end of a 25-year chapter for owners Brian and Karla Simmons.

The couple shared the news on Facebook on October 19, citing family issues and a lease termination notice as the main reasons for the closure.

“It is with heavy hearts that Brian and I end our farming journey. We will no longer be part of Simmons Farm,” Karla Simmons wrote in the post.

The farm, located at 1942 W Main Road, is known for its chemical-free vegetables, grass-fed meats and artisanal cheeses made from goat and cow milk.

They have also been a local gathering place for activities like goat yoga, goat walks, and a daily petting zoo.

Karla Simmons expressed, “We were so honored to be a part of their lives – growing their food, participating in their goat yoga celebrations, and being there for their birthdays, engagements, family reunions, and holiday gatherings at goat walks. .”

The closure of the farm is due to challenges with extended family. The couple says these issues have “shaken the security we need to invest our lives and every penny we earn on the farm.”

The Simmonses received a notice to end their lease, requiring them to vacate the property by December 31, 2024.

“Even though we wanted to continue moving forward, we received a TERMINATION OF LEASE notice from the family. We have to leave by December 31, 2024,” the post revealed.

The Simmonses thanked everyone for their support over the years, saying, “We didn’t want an easy life – we wanted a good life and we’ve lived well as a farming family for over 25 years.”
