Father of 22 children and counting fined after being taken to court

The star of a hit Channel 5 series has been fined for failing to provide his details following an alleged speeding incident. Noel Radford, the father of 22 Kids and Counting, was accused of traveling at 55mph in a 40mph zone near his home in Lancashire.

Prosecutor Malcolm Isherwood told Lancaster Magistrates’ Court this morning (October 21) that Radford’s Porsche was filmed traveling at speed along the A683 Bay Gateway in Torrisholme, Morecambe, on November 6 last year. The 53-year-old received a letter about the incident and a reminder, but did not respond on both occasions, Isherwood said.

Radford, appearing in court unrepresented, pleaded guilty to failing to provide driver identification details. Wearing a gray sweater, jeans and trainers in the second room of Lancaster Magistrates Court, Radford made no further comment to the court.

He received six points on his license and was fined £900. Chairman of the bench Kevin Kendall told Radford he received credit for his guilty plea this morning.

Radford, of South Road, Morecambe, pleaded not guilty to a charge of speeding following the incident last November. Isherwood told the court the Crown Prosecution Service would offer no further evidence on the charge, which was withdrawn.

The case was listed as a trial. Radford was due to appear in court on September 2, but the case was postponed after he failed to show up.

Radford must also pay a surcharge of £360 and costs of £200. He told the court he could pay the full sum of £1,460 in three monthly installments.

Radford was given a January 2025 deadline to pay the court in full. Kendall warned the TV star that the court could “use other means” to claim the money back if he hadn’t paid by that time.
