CFCC Wilson Center Announces ‘Weird and Wonderful’ Performance Series

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Cape Fear Community College’s (CFCC) Wilson Center has announced five shows as part of the venue’s debut 2025 Weird and Wonderful performance series.

Included performances include, as written by the CFCC:

  • The Aluminum Show
    • Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at 7pm
    • The Aluminum Show is the story of one man’s incredible journey into a parallel universe of imagination made entirely of aluminum. The performers around him manipulate aluminum tubes and sheets with extraordinary precision, transforming the stage into a futuristic playground. Audience participation is integral to the adventure, ensuring that you are not just watching the magic unfold, but also being a part of it.
  • Alton Brown Live: Last Bite
    • Thursday, February 27, 2025, at 7pm
    • During his farewell tour Alton Brown Live: Last Bitethe famous foodist, reflects on his decades in food media, sings some food songs, and performs several of his favorite culinary mega-hacks live on stage. Alton Brown delivers a culinary variety show unlike any human eyes have ever seen.
  • Insidious: the more you fear
    • Friday, March 28, 2025, at 7:30 pm and Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 7:30 pm
    • Get ready for the scare of your life as an all-new story in the Insidious universe leaps off the screen with Insidious: the more you fear. Hosted by Specs and Tucker, the paranormal investigators who inspired the original film, you’ll be trapped in a haunted theater, with something truly sinister lurking behind the scenes. But what is real? What is just part of the show? And who – or what – might be sitting next to you? The house is full. The stage is set. The Red Door is about to open. Will you be able to pass?
  • Our Planet Live
    • Monday, April 14, 2025, at 7pm
    • From the Emmy®-winning team behind Netflix Our Planet series comes a new natural history speaker series: Our Planet Live featuring speaker Sophie Lanfear. Focusing on climate fragility and climate migration, Our Planet Live tells an unprecedented story about overcoming obstacles on a global scale and explores the messages at the heart of these action-packed, emotional and unforgettable sequences. Join us live on stage as we bring stories from the natural world to life through an immersive show.
  • Dynamite Napoleon live!
    • Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at 7:30 pm
    • The beloved indie classic Napoleon Dynamite was released 20 years ago. Since then, much has changed, but the characters, as enduring as they are captivating, remain in our hearts. This unique evening includes a full screening of Napoleon Dynamite followed by a lively, freewheeling discussion with fan-favorite cast members: Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite), Jon Gries (Uncle Rico), and Efren Ramirez (Pedro). The live show is a wild and hysterical mix of trivia, improv comedy, game show and party, with lots of audience participation.

Tickets go on sale to Wilson Center members at 10am on Wednesday, October 23rd and to the public at 10am on Friday, October 26th. You can purchase tickets on the Wilson Center website and at the box office between 2pm and 6pm on weekdays, in person or by calling 910-362-7999.
