Vampire Survivors announces that its biggest DLC will be a great tribute to Castlevania

Full Circle (of the Moon). Vampire Survivors has just revealed that the incredibly successful game that popularized the Bullet Heaven genre is finally getting a collaboration with the franchise that inspired it, Castlevania. And it’s happening as the game’s biggest expansion ever released so far. THE poncle title is gearing up to release new DLC, aptly titled ‘Ode to Castlevania‘, about October 31, 2024. Just in time for Halloween, the expansion includes music, stages, weapons and characters from the legendary vampire-slaying franchise.

Vampire Survivors will have Castlevania DLC with weapons, music and levels from the Konami franchise

The new content was announced as a grand celebration of the Castlevania saga, even stating that “EVERYONE IS HERE!” during the trailer. The video shows that iconic characters like Simon Belmont, Trevor Belmont, Alucard and Soma Cruz will be playable in Vampire Survivors, alongside almost every other hero, with classic monsters and bosses also appearing. But will the big vampire boss, Dracula, show up? Or will the Vampire Survivors continue to hide their true Vampire selves?

In total, there will be more than forty new weapons, more than twenty new characters, more than thirty music tracks and “ONE HUGE CASTLE”, which may be the only level available in the DLC. Of course, paying homage to the titles of the Konami saga, This “huge castle” seems like a level that changes with each run, since within the tradition of this saga, this perverse structure changes its distribution each time it decides to reveal itself to the world. All priced at $3.99 and available on October 31, 2024.

Vampire Survivors Castlevania DLC Ode to Castlevania

The fact that Vampire Survivors is finally getting a crossover with the franchise it was inspired by hasn’t gone unnoticed by many because of its 8-bit aesthetic and its theme of slaying monsters from beyond the grave. Many found it ironic that a Contra DLC, a franchise also owned by Konami, made its way into the game before Castlevania. Turns out we simply had to wait for the circle to come full circle: from a loving tribute to an official collaboration.

This new expansion also shows that Konami and Poncle maintain good relations. One of the biggest initial concerns in the title’s community was that its numerous aesthetic and character design similarities with those of the Castlevania saga could lead to some type of litigation, but finally, the Japanese company managed to recognize that Vampire Survivors was actually born as an homage, and not as a crude copy that tried to cling to the success of this other franchise.
