People shocked after McDonald’s employee reveals little-known fact about order

People shocked after McDonald’s employee reveals little-known fact about order

A TikToker revealed what really happens when your McDonald’s order reaches $50 — and why employees fear it when it happens.

Creator Kaalen posted a video of himself covering his face in exasperation, while an on-screen caption read: ‘when the order gets closer and closer to the $50 mark and now you’ll have to stop them to get a manager.’

McDonald’s operations, according to the creator, require a manager to oversee and confirm an order when it reaches the $50 mark.

This explains why, when the order reaches this amount, the employee must wait for the manager to enter their code number and approve the transaction before resuming the order.

While it’s unclear whether this is true at all locations or specific locations, one commenter wrote, “they had to turn this off at my store (because) customers almost always have orders over $50.”

In most companies, when a customer pays in cash using larger bills, it is usually required to be verified by a manager as part of fraud prevention policies.

This policy within McDonalds, however, appears to be for any transaction up to that amount, another commenter stated that their store had an even lower limit.

The commenter wrote: ‘it’s $25 in my store and my god I could cry every time this happens’

Another said: ‘I would just memorize all the managers’ badges because I would get tired of it’

Kaalen revealed that managers would often tell employees their codes as they were often “too busy to go out there and do it.”

To which Kaalen responded that sometimes managers tell employees their codes to avoid inconvenience, Kaalen wrote, “they are always too busy to go over there and do it.”

Many have commented on the price increase, meaning the $50 cap comes much sooner than before.

‘$50 is like 3 meals. I can’t even get 50 more McChickens,’ one said.

“The way $50 isn’t that much food at most fast food restaurants now,” wrote another.

Some were unaware of the process taking place behind the counter, one wrote: ‘as a family of 6 we always spend this. I had no idea this was a thing’

Others shared experiences where their workplace had similar policies, causing chaos during their shift.

One said: ‘One time there were 100 and my manager was nowhere to be found, I was dying’

“(I) was in the back booth and someone wanted to add something to their order and I said ‘oh… wait, I need a manager’ so I stood around awkwardly while I waited,” wrote another.

DailyMail has contacted McDonald’s for comment.
