CARLTON midfielder Jack Carroll is among three players removed from the Blues’ list despite playing 15 games this season.

Carroll, key defender Sam Durdin and inexperienced youngster Matt Carroll were all delisted on Tuesday, but Durdin and Matt Carroll will have the chance to train with the Blues over the summer in the hope of earning a place for 2025 through the pre-season supplementary selection period (SSP).

WHO CALLED LEAVES 2024 retirements and exclusions

Jack Carroll, 21, was selected with pick 41 in the 2020 AFL Draft and has played 21 games in his four seasons at Ikon Park, most of them this year.

His best games came as a block at the start of the season, when he played four games between the opening round and the fourth round, averaging 16.5 disposals and a goal every two games.

Durdin, 28, joined the Blues via the 2022 mid-season draft and has played two senior matches since then, as well as 24 VFL matches.

Matt Carroll has suffered a groin injury since being picked 15th overall in the 2023 rookie draft, and returned to play a late-season reserve game.

“Jack leaves the football club with lasting friendships which is testament to the positive contribution he made to the group during his four seasons with us and we wish him the best of luck for the next opportunity in his career,” Carlton Head of List Management Nick Austin said.

“Sam and Matt have had their challenges with injuries this year, but we admire their resilience to stay at the forefront. Although both players have not received new playing contracts to date, both have been invited to train with the team and fight for a spot on the roster during the upcoming pre-season.”
