Flower Boys and Mixo Indy team up for Taylor Swift themed event

Local businesses are embracing the excitement of Taylor Swift as the pop star’s next concert in Indianapolis approaches. The Flower Boys, a well-known local florist, is teaming up with Mixo Indy. Then Indy will host “Blooms and Beats,” a Taylor Swift-themed flower workshop and cocktail/mocktail event. The collaboration aims to bring fans together to celebrate Swift’s arrival in the city.

Co-owner Jake Rupp and leading retail expert Dani Baldonado of The Flower Boys, alongside Mixo Indy. Then Indy owner Katie Slonim shared her excitement for the event. Rupp explained the origins of his business, highlighting an experience rooted in the floral industry, including family traditions and local markets. “We like to think of ourselves as more of an educational florist,” Rupp said. “We do different classes at breweries and distilleries around town, but we also offer a build-your-own-bouquet experience.”

The “Blooms and Beats” event will feature flower arrangements inspired by Swift’s different eras. Participants can choose to make a crown or bouquet of flowers, each representing a different era in the artist’s career. Baldonado emphasized that the event is a tribute to Swift’s influence. “We really wanted to pay tribute to Taylor,” she said. “Many of us grew up with her and were inspired by her music.”

Mixo Indy will complement the workshop by offering custom-themed mocktails and cocktails. One of the drinks, a Taylor Swift mocktail, contains vegan yogurt, marshmallow extract, vanilla syrup and peach tea, creating a visually appealing, color-changing drink. “It embodies what I think about when I think about Taylor and Taylor’s events,” Slonim said. The mocktail can also be made with brandy for those who prefer a cocktail.

The collaboration highlights the importance of local businesses coming together around community events. “Downtown will be very vibrant for Taylor Swift concerts,” Rupp noted. “Everyone is trying to find something to do, and this event brings people together whether they have concert tickets or not.”

“Blooms and Beats” will take place on Friday, November 1st from 2pm to 6pm and Saturday, November 2nd from 10am to 2pm. Tickets are $48. For fans unable to attend, the Flower Boys are offering Taylor Swift-themed floral arrangements for purchase.
