Early morning traffic incident in the Municipal Center leaves teenager hospitalized

A 17-year-old high school student was struck by a vehicle in the 200 block of Pennsylvania Avenue at Spruce Alley in Center Hall, Center County, on Wednesday morning. The call came shortly after 7am

First responders from Center Hall and Pleasant Gap were on scene tending to the teen.

Penns Valley Area School District Superintendent Brian Griffith released a statement Wednesday morning on his Facebook page that says:

Good morning Penns Valley families,

Unfortunately, I need to inform you that at approximately 7:00 am this morning, a Penns Valley student was involved in an accident on Pennsylvania Avenue in Center Hall, PA. The student’s parents, Penns Valley Area School District administrators, school police and emergency services were on scene. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and student for a full recovery.

Some of the students on the HS2 bus witnessed the accident. Counselors, social workers and school psychologists at Penns Valley Elementary and Intermediate School, as well as Penns Valley High School, have already reached out to these students to support their mental well-being. Additional check-ins will take place as needed, and if necessary, parents of these students will be contacted. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Please keep your thoughts with this family and all those connected.

The 17-year-old was airlifted to a nearby hospital. His condition and the circumstances of the accident were not immediately clear.

This is a developing story. Stay with WJAC as we continue to learn more.
