“An eight-month-old girl was rushed to hospital from her own funeral after family noticed she was moving in her coffin,” Dailymail wrote as the outlet posted a video of baby Kiara.

How was she found alive?

During his funeral, the baby reportedly grabbed the finger of a family member who was standing next to his coffin.

Double heartbreak

Immediately after this discovery, the funeral was halted and she was rushed to hospital, where, to the dismay of her family, she was pronounced dead for a second time,” the Sun reported.

“We were already devastated. Then there was a little hope, but then this ended up happening,” the devastated father, Cristiano Santos, told local media.

Her family took her to the hospital after she contracted a viral infection. The first time, doctors declared her dead, claiming that she was not breathing and had no heartbeat. Once she was taken back, doctors tried to save her life. However, for the second time, she was declared dead again 24 hours after the initial statement.

Investigation launched:

Correia Pinto City Council, the area where the baby’s family lives and the hospital apologized to the family.

The hospital faces an investigation initiated by Brazil’s specialized Scientific Police. The medical center admitted to declaring her dead the first time and then pronouncing the same a second time.

In addition to apologizing to the family, the Correia Pinto City Council promised to carry out an in-depth investigation and conclude it within 30 days.
