High school students interested in nursing participate in Briar Cliff’s Scrub Night event

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) — A local university is opening its doors to high school students so they can learn more about one of its programs.

Wednesday night, Briar Cliff held a ‘Scrub Night’ to showcase their nursing program.

There, 70 local high school students had the opportunity to learn about nursing and listen to teachers. They even got some hands-on experience with different nursing techniques.

Briar Cliff’s nursing program holds events like this in an effort to showcase what nursing is all about.

“We need nurses. We need to develop our profession, and this is a way to get them excited and take care of people. This is what we need,” said Courtney Ott, Chief Nursing Officer.

High school students also had the chance to win prizes, as well as watch a BCU volleyball match.
