Jimmy Fallon Loses Control While James Poyser Describes His Favorite Horror Movie – ‘The Notebook’

Horror, like comedy, is subjective. But even with that in mind, it’s hard to be prepared for The Roots’ James Poyser’s favorite horror film. Jimmy Fallon was taken by surprise by the choice of keyboardist on the latest episode of “The Tonight Show”.

In honor of spooky season, Fallon noted that new research found that 84% of people watch scary movies around Halloween. “Personally, my favorite is the original ‘Halloween,’” Fallon shared. He then asked the members of “The Tonight Show” band what their favorite horror movies are.

Most were expected. Black Thought listed “Paranormal Activity,” saying “that one really got me.” Questlove mentioned “Jaws” because “that shark messed me up.” Then it was James Poyser’s turn.

“The scariest movie I ever saw was ‘The Notebook,’” he said confidently as the studio audience laughed. The crowd and Fallon may have been laughing, but Poyser came prepared with a pretty convincing argument. As the lights dimmed and a searchlight appeared above him, Poyser took off.

“There is nothing scarier than the fragility of memory, the potential loss of love, and the torment of family disapproval from the person you believe is the one,” Poyser said confidently. “Allie’s choice between Noah, her passionate lover, and Lon, the representation of social expectations, kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the film. Ultimately, love is the most terribly bittersweet thing.”

The very silly segment received a round of applause from the audience after Fallon pretended to wipe away a tear following that “beautiful” description. That wasn’t the only seasonal joke “The Tonight Show” had up its sleeve on Wednesday night. Fallon opened her monologue by sharing that another survey declared Circus Peanuts to be America’s least favorite candy.

“They are a bit pasty, orange, difficult to digest. Can we see a photo? Fallon said before showing a photo of Donald Trump. “I’m sorry, this is a mistake. This is terrible!

Fallon then shared that another hated candy is Necco Wafers, which he described as “mealy, crumbly” and something that “has been around forever.” Naturally, this was accompanied by a photo of President Joe Biden. Watch the full monologue above.
