Travis Kelce scored his first touchdown of the NFL season

Travis Kelce scored the first touchdown of his 2024-2025 NFL season as a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs.

The NFL star caught a 5-yard touchdown pass from the Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes to score against the Las Vegas Raiders during their Sunday, October 27 game at Allegiant Stadium in Nevada. October 27 also happens to be National Tight Ends Day, and Kelce, 35, celebrated his touchdown by spiking the ball into the end zone.

Kelce caught the touchdown pass in the second quarter of the game. Before that, he had played twelve games in the regular season without scoring a touchdown pass. Not only was this Kelce’s first touchdown of the season, but it also gave the Chiefs a three-point lead over the Raiders. The Chiefs ultimately took home the win with a 27-20 win. Kelce finished his game on Sunday with 10 receptions and 90 yards.

Kelce’s touchdown comes after his hotly contested slow start to the seasonin which he caught just eight passes in the first three games of the season for the Chiefs, for a total of 69 yards. By comparison, Kelce racked up 184 receiving yards on 17 receptions through the first three games of his most productive season in 2022.

“For whatever reason, it hasn’t gone that way for me the last two games,” Kelce said of his start during the Sept. 18 episode of his “New Heights” podcast, which he co-hosts with his brother. Jason Kelce. ‘That’s football, man. I’m not going to sit here and get frustrated about it.”

During the same episode, Kelce noted that he “got really pissed off and almost lost my cool,” saying, “I just play the game with such a high level of responsibility that it’s just hard for me to deal with it.” by being mediocre or by having statistics that reflect that.”

Despite the slow start, Kelce still succeeded breaking and making records for the Chiefs. During the team’s Sept. 29 win against the Los Angeles Chargers, Kelce caught seven passes for 89 yards, both season highs for the NFL star. He also broke the record for legendary tight end Tony Gonzalez for the most receptions in Chiefs franchise history.
