Addison Rae rocks mermaid-inspired look at the 2024 CFDA Fashion Awards

Addison Rae knows how to make a statement

The 24-year-old singer and social media personality came dressed to impress at the 2024 CFDA Fashion Awards, held at the Museum of Natural History in New York City on Monday, October 28.

Rae wore a mermaid-inspired look, which perfectly channeled her latest song “Aquamarine.” Her dress consisted of a gray top with a corset and a plaid mermaid skirt covered in sequins and a small train. She even carried a seashell purse and topped off her look with brand new, mermaid-perfect blonde hair in loose waves that looked like she just came out of the water.

The pop star’s appearance at the CFDA Fashion Awards comes just days after the release of her latest single, ‘Aquamarine’, on October 25. The song marks her second single since the release of her debut hit ‘Diet Pepsi“, which was released in August and topped the charts. The music video for her second song was super fashion-forward, including looks inspired by ’60s and ’70s icons like Jane Birkin and Brigitte Bardot, per Harper’s Bazaar.

This year was not the first time Rae attended the intimate fashion ceremony, which celebrates the winners and honorees of the 2024 CFDA Fashion Awards, including American designers, brands and organizations – in addition to international brands.

The social media star was previously seen in the 2022 CFDA Awardsdressed in a Gareth Pugh hooded design with a dramatic black train. She finished her look with a classic black pump.

The daring hooded ensemble was different from Rae’s typical red carpet choices. The content creator explained her outfit decision during a conversation with Fashionwhen he said at the time, “I never want to put myself in a box.”

She explained, “I like trying new things and taking risks.” Later in her conversation with the fashion retailer, she called Pugh’s designs “wearable works of art,” adding, “The dress should hang in a museum.”

The 2024 CFDA Awards will be chaired by Chairman Thom Browne and CEO Steven Kolb, with Cynthia Erivo serving as the evening’s host. The ceremony is a star-studded affair, between those who received awards and the guests in attendance.

Those honored include Michael Kors, who will receive the Positive Change Award, Erykah Badu, who will receive the Fashion Icon Award, and Daniel Roseberry, who will be named International Designer of the Year.

Anna Wintour, Blake Lively, Charles Melton, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Marc Jacobs and Molly Ringwald are also presenters for the evening, while Cardi B, Kylie Jenner, J Balvin, Alix Earle, Kelsea Ballerini and Teyana Taylor are among the presenters . notable VIPs in attendance.

Rae’s participation in the 2024 CFDA Awards comes one month after hers striking red carpet look during the MTV Video Music Awards held at the UBS Arena in New York on September 11 this year.

The singer stepped out in an all-white lingerie ensemble reminiscent of Madonna‘s 1984 VMA performance, and the Queen of Pop’s iconic recreation of the 2003 moment with Britney Spears And Christina Aguilera.
