Man injured in DC shooting as police search for getaway car

WASHINGTON, DC – A Southeast D.C. neighborhood was rocked by gunfire Sunday afternoon, wounding one man and sending police searching for a vehicle captured on surveillance footage near the crime scene.

The incident occurred around 3:40 p.m. on Oct. 27, when officers were dispatched to the 2200 block of Savannah Street SE after reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found an adult male who had been shot but was conscious and breathing. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries that were not life-threatening.

Footage of a car linked to the shooting was recorded by a nearby security camera, although authorities have not released details about the make or model of the vehicle. The footage, which has now been made public, is part of the department’s efforts to track down those involved in the incident.
