Mass elections 2024: Bristol 1st district results at State House

A chair occupied by Representative Jay Barrowsa Republican has been up for grabs for almost twenty years now.

On the Democratic ticket, Kostas Loukosthe former Mansfield town moderator, emerged victorious a three-way Democratic primary in September.

He is now a member of the Mansfield Industrial Development Commission and a gaming agent for the Massachusetts Gaming Commission. He is also a former intern for Barrows and other lawmakers.

Michael Chaissona Foxborough resident and owner of Chaiss Construction, a home-building company, won an uncontested Republican primary in September. He previously made an unsuccessful bid for the Bristol and Norfolk Senate district in 2022, losing to incumbent Senator Paul Feeney.

As a small business owner, Chaisson said he understands how rising costs have put a strain on his district’s residents. He has promised to bring a “new generation” of leadership from Bristol’s 1st District to the State House.

The district has long been a Republican stronghold. It includes Foxborough and parts of Mansfield and Norton.
