Teenage girl and man killed in Plum Orchard shooting identified | Crime/police

A teenage girl and a man who were shot dead in Plum Orchard last Wednesday were identified Friday morning by the Orleans coroner’s office.

New Orleans Police Department officers responded to a call at 1:11 a.m. in the 4700 block of Laine Avenue. When they arrived at the location, police found 17-year-old Tynarvia Rogers and 20-year-old Jordan Chavez with at least one gunshot wound. Paramedics pronounced Rogers and Chavez dead at the scene.

Police initially investigated the murder as an aggravated battery incident, but after further investigation it was reclassified as a double homicide.

Other information, including a possible motive or potential suspect, was not immediately available. The murder is still under investigation.
