A new one Greek restaurant is preparing to open on Castle Street. Newspapers hang in the window of the former Boots store, sandwiched between Sainsbury’s and Gentleman George’s Tattoo Parlor, as work begins inside.

A poster with the name of the restaurant, Zeus Tavernais attached to the door. The restaurant invites guests to ‘enter a world inspired by the sun-drenched island of Santorini, where the rich flavors of Greece and Mediterranean elegance meet.

Zeus Taverna shares a similar typography and name with cocktail bar and restaurant Zenn on Victoria Street. However, a spokesperson for the latter confirmed to the ECHO that the two locations are not linked in any way.

A planning report previously submitted to the local authority said: “The proposed site is within the built-up area on Castle Street, Liverpool and was previously used as a Boots store. The restaurant will consist of internal works to the existing building.

“The new construction work has been designed in such a way that it does not have a negative impact on the famous street. Several shops, restaurants and major tourist attractions are within walking distance of the proposed location.

“The location is on a well-known street of historic interest in the center of Liverpool. The intention is to create a luxurious restaurant/bar, while taking into account the monumental site and surroundings.

The report added: “This will be done by refurbishing the existing building as shown in the plans to create a restaurant/bar on the ground floor, together with storage and toilet facilities in the basement. The change of use will guarantee the long life of the building. , keeping it from falling into disrepair and contributing to the area’s vibrant restaurant culture.”

Zeus Taverna will be the newest newcomer after The Ivy Brasserie. The highly anticipated restaurant and bar will occupy the former Bank of England site on Castle Street and open on Tuesday, November 19.
