Methuen man arrested after high-speed chase in stolen Mercedes, police say

A 40-year-old Methuen man was taken into custody Monday morning after allegedly leading state police troopers on a chase through eastern Massachusetts in a stolen SUV at speeds of up to 90 miles per hour, officials said.

Andrew McInnes was apprehended in West Boylston, where troopers tracked the Mercedes SUV using its on-board GPS system after abandoning their pursuit in hopes of de-escalating the high-speed chase, state police said in a statement.

Troopers first spotted the Mercedes, which had been reported stolen, in Derry, N.H., just before 10 a.m. heading south on Interstate 93, state police said. They gave chase and followed the luxury vehicle as it turned south onto Interstate 495 and then Route 2 before abandoning the pursuit.

The statement did not include information about what charges McInnes could face.
