Five Corpus Christi athletes earn medals at TAPPS State Track Meet

Five Corpus Christi athletes won medals at the TAPPS State Track Meet held last week in Hewitt, led by four-time John Paul II men’s triple jump champion Armando Rivera.

Rivera won his fourth consecutive TAPPS 4A state championship with a triple jump of 47 feet, 4.25 inches. The Centurions jumper added a silver medal in the long jump (22-7.75).

IWA’s Brandon Silva finished second in the 1,600 meters (4:34.63) and third in the 3,200 (10:08.22), also earning two state medals.

John Paul II’s Robyn Crain won a silver medal in the girls’ long jump (16-10.25), Grace Becker was third in the girls’ high jump (5-0) and Teddy Chavez won bronze in the boys’ high jump (5-10).
