The Ravens win twice and are ready for the playoffs

SOUTH ELBOW – Raymond-South Bend won twice in boys soccer last week – picking up non-league victories against Centralia at home and on the road against LaCenter.

With 3 goals from Alexander Bucio, the Ravens beat Centralia 5-1 last Wednesday in South Bend.

Bucio scored all three of his goals in the first half to lead 3-0. Centralia scored in the second half to cut the lead to 3-1.

“After the break we knew they were going to press harder, and we adjusted our midfield to deal with that,” RSB head coach Joseph Keegan told the Herald. “We kept pushing.”

Jose Ramirez and Adam Mora scored in the second half for the winners.

The Ravens beat LaCenter 5-4 last Thursday. Edgar Ramirez scored 3 goals for RSB. José Ramirez and Fabian Bucio also scored goals for the Ravens.

“It was a very close game, but we played well,” Keegan said. “It was a good test for us before our district game on (May 7) against King’s Way Christian in South Bend.”

King’s Way Christian finished in third place with a 6-4 record in the Trico 1A League. The Knights were 7-5 overall.

The winner of the RSB-KWC plays the winner of the Eatonville-Seton Catholic game on Thursday, and the loser plays the loser of the Eatonville-Seton Catholic game on Thursday. (For full media, go to wiaa.com.)
