Put on your inventor hat and join Whitney Educators to get creative and create your own impossible inventions inspired by 2024 Biennale artist, Pippa Garner.

Garner Inventor’s Office is filled with what she describes as “impossible inventions.” Explore the installation and discover these playful and imaginative objects that have a life and history of their own, long after they have become obsolete. Some of these works also reflect Garner’s journey of transition or “Genderhacking,” which she began in the late 1980s. She wondered whether the energy she devoted to modifying devices could also be applied to human body, thinking: “If I can work with a waffle iron, why not the body?”
