PARKERSBURG — The Geppetto Woodcarvers Club will host its Carving on the Porch show and exhibit from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Woodcraft, 4420 Emerson Ave.

The annual event offers wood carving demonstrations and an opportunity to learn more about the hobby. Club members will be available to discuss the tools and resources needed to begin wood carving.

Special guests at this year’s event will be members of the Wilderness Center Woodcarvers Club of Dover, Ohio.

More than twenty wood carvers are expected. Free entry.

The hand-carved wooden quilt by Geppetto Wood Carvers will be on display. The quilt theme is Garden Party and includes 42 hand carved quilt squares of different wood carving styles.

One-of-a-kind Christmas tree ornaments, hand-carved by members of Geppetto Woodcarvers, will be available for sale during the event.

Proceeds from ornament sales benefit the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Project, sponsored by the club. Since the start of this project, more than $6,000 has been raised to provide Christmas gifts to children in need.

Geppetto Wood Carvers meet from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. the second Saturday of the month at Woodcraft for its monthly carving program. The club also meets from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays at Woodcraft for open carving.

The club has partnered with the Blennerhassett Museum to offer evening wood carving sessions from 6-8 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month. New woodcarvers and carvers of all levels are welcome to attend one of these carving sessions.
