Gogglebox legend signs up for Celebs Go Dating after shock divorce announcement



Gogglebox star Stephen Lustig-Webb has signed up to Celebs Go Dating after announcing his shock divorce.

Stephen, 52, and his husband Daniel, 43, revealed last month they were divorcing after six years of marriage.

And now the hairstylist has reportedly been spotted by E4 bosses and is ‘excited’ to take to the dating scene again.

A TV insider told The Sun: “Stephen is set to sign up for Celebs Go Dating following successful advanced discussions with E4 producers.

“Bosses were really keen to have him as soon as they heard he and Stephen had split, as they knew viewers would be invested in his path to finding love again, and he’s already a big viewer favorite from Channel 4 after years on Gogglebox.

“Stephen is also keen to have fun again after a difficult few months, and he is also keen to get back on TV after having to pull out of Dancing on Ice due to injury.

“He was gutted when it failed, but he feels excited about taking on a new project. He’s realistic and thinks he might not find Mr. Right, but he’s ready for a laugh in the dating scene.

Celebs Go Dating follows a group of single stars as they search for love, with the help of dating experts Anna Williamson and Paul Brunson.

Although a return date has not yet been confirmed, series 12 premiered in September 2023 and included stars such as Adam Collard, Lottie Moss and Chloe Burrows.

They appeared amicably split as they took to Instagram after sharing their relationship news – posting a video of themselves riding a tandem bike and they shed light on their split .

Stephen even joked in the caption, writing: “Tandem straight out of that wedding #beryl #bff.”

They looked like they were having a great time as they enjoyed a day together in sunny Brighton, where they live.

A day earlier, TV personality Stephen told The Sun on Sunday: “It is with great sadness that Daniel and I have decided to divorce.

“There is, and always will be, a lot of love here, but we have sadly separated and made the decision to go our separate ways.”

Daniel said: “We have taken the decision with heavy hearts to confirm that our marriage has ended.

“I’m sure we’ll always be friends.”

Stephen first appeared on Channel 4’s Gogglebox over a decade ago in 2023 alongside his ex-boyfriend Chris Ashby-Steed.

When the couple split, Stephen remained on the program with his late mother Pat.

Stephen and Daniel left Gogglebox last year before it was announced that Stephen would take part in the 2024 series of Dancing On Ice.

However, Stephen was forced to withdraw from the figure skating competition when he broke his ankle early in training.

Stephen and Daniel announced their divorce last month, but revealed they were still on good terms, with the pair running their hair salon together.

He was rushed to Portsmouth’s Queen Alexandra Hospital in October last year, where doctors told him he had broken his left ankle and would be on crutches for at least three month.

Stephen had surgery to put metal plates in his ankle for extra support, but there was no hope of him returning to the ice.

Sources close to Stephen said he “really enjoyed the new challenge” and got to know judges Torvill and Dean as well as the other celebrity contestants, and was “gutted” to have lost his place in the competition even before the start of the show. .

They said at the time: “Stephen is devastated… he is absolutely gutted. He loved training, but while spinning on his skates, he broke his ankle and was rushed to the hospital.

“After two days and an operation to put metal plates in his left ankle, doctors informed him that he had no chance of returning to training, so he had no choice but to drop out of contest.”

Stephen and Daniel left Gogglebox last year before it was announced Stephen would take part in the 2024 series of Dancing On Ice, but he left the competition due to a broken ankle.
