Yung Gravy to release his Zac Brown-inspired debut “country” single “Clementine” this Friday

Here we go again.

It seems like everyone is trying to get into country music these days. Beyoncé recently released her country-inspired album, Cowboy Carter, a few weeks ago, and Post Malone has a single with Morgan Wallen called “I Had Some Help” coming out this Friday as he continues to delve into country music.

Well, next we have… Yung Gravy.

I’m guessing if you’re here, you probably aren’t very familiar with Mr. Gravy, the Minnesota-born rapper whose real name is Matthew Raymond Hauri.

Well… me neither.

I know who he is, but I don’t know much about his music other than a song that went viral on TikTok a while ago. (“Damn sauce, you’re so vicious, you’re so clean, so delicious.” I don’t even know his real name).

Gravy got people talking a while back when he posted a photo from the studio with Shania Twain, so it’s clear these two have something in the works. But in the meantime, the rapper is poised to become the latest artist from another genre to release his debut “country” single.

Now, I put “country” in quotes because the song is called “Clementine,” and Gravy has already teased it a bit, and… well, listen to it for yourself.

@yunggravy, how do we feel about country sauce? coming soon, whether you like it or not 🤠 #servingcountry #clementine ♬ clementine yung sauce – tipwtenis

The song is clearly an interpolation of the Zac Brown Band hit “Chicken Fried,” and Gravy even commented on the post that he was hanging out with Zac and Shania. And I mean, I guess it’s not really less country than Sam Hunt or Walker Hayes, but I don’t really consider them super country either…

“Clémentine” releases the first single from her next album this Friday Serving the country. And in the meantime, he’s released previews of some of the other tracks we can expect as he makes his “country” debut.
