2 suspected burglars caught stealing from California store

Two suspected burglars were arrested after attempting to steal hundreds of dollars in stolen goods from a thrift store in Watsonville. According to the Watsonville Police Department, they responded to an active burglary on Main Street near West Lake Avenue on Wednesday. Within minutes, officers quickly established a perimeter around the exterior of the building. Police said the suspects tried to escape through the back door they forced open, but were later arrested. Robert Lee Buckman, 26, and Jose Alfredo Vallejo, 32, are both charged with burglary and conspiracy. Police said they caused more than $1,000 worth of damage to the business. Buckman later admitted to officers that he had stolen from the same store earlier in the day. Both men were booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail.
