Ferrari surprisingly replaces Charles Leclerc's racing engineer

Charles Leclerc will work alongside a new race engineer from next weekend at the F1 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.

Xavi Marcos will be replaced by Bryan Bozzi from Imola, Ferrari has announced.

A Ferrari statement read: “Scuderia Ferrari HP announces that from Monday May 13, Xavi Marcos will bring his valuable experience gained as a racing engineer within the Formula 1 team to the development of other programs important to the company.

“Scuderia Ferrari HP announces that Bryan Bozzi, who has been with the team for ten years, currently as Performance Engineer at Charles Leclerc, will now take on the role of its Race Engineer starting at the Gran Premio del Made in Italy next weekend and dell’ Emilia-Romagna in Imola.

Marcos, who has worked alongside Leclerc since his first season at Ferrari, has been moved to another role within the company.

Although their relationship was good, there were occasional flashpoints that hinted at problems with Ferrari’s strategy.

Last year at the Spanish Grand Prix, a mix-up between Leclerc and Marcos over the team radio resulted in a botched tire strategy.

Notably in Saudi Arabia last year, Leclerc was furious with Marcos on the team radio.
