Mamata remained silent as Sandeshkhali women were tortured on the basis of their religion: Amit Shah

On the incidents at Sandeshkhali in North 24 Parganas district, where allegations of sexual abuse against TMC leaders were leveled, Shah said it was shameful that “Mamata Banerjee, despite being a female chief minister, tried to protect the culprits.”

“In Sandeshkhali, TMC leaders tortured hundreds of our sisters on the basis of their religion. Mamata Didi was not ready to arrest the Sandeshkhali criminals. Even after the High Court order, the investigation was not carried out, so the High Court handed over the investigation to the CBI,” he said.

Shah also said, “Whoever committed atrocities in Sandeshkhali, even if he hides in the underworld, we will find him and put him in jail? The BJP will punish these culprits. His comments come a day after several purported videos of women from Sandeshkhali, shared by the TMC, claimed that a local saffron party leader made these women sign blank papers which were later filed as complaints of sexual assault.

Shah, while addressing a sizeable Matua population at the Lok Sabha seat, slammed Banerjee for opposing the CAA and “taking out rallies in support of the infiltrators”.

“Those involved in corruption will not be spared and the culprits will be sent to jail, no one will be spared,” he added. PTI PNT BDC
