AJ Hoggard reportedly offered ‘massive’ NIL deal by SEC school

It’s been two weeks since AJ Hoggard hit the transfer portal and he’s drawing interest from some interesting programs.

Last week it was revealed that he had narrowed his list down to Florida, Georgia, Vanderbilt, Washington and USC and it looks like he is narrowing it down before making a decision in a week or two. Although he has yet to set a commitment date, it appears the timeline is being accelerated by recent news.

What do I mean by that?

Well, Hoggard was offered a massive NIL deal, according to a report from a Vanderbilt insider.

Hoggard is clearly worth more than anyone might have expected when he entered the transfer portal, but Vanderbilt is going through a massive rebuild and they’re willing to pay big money for a starting point guard who can lead the team. Mark Byington is trying to build a competitive roster early on and while Hoggard has been disappointing in 2023-24, he’s a veteran who will help a rebuilding program early on.

While that deal is apparently on the table, it’s unclear if that will be enough to convince him to join one of the SEC’s bottom-ranked sides against teams like Florida or USC.

None of the teams on Hoggard’s list are real contenders heading into next season, other than maybe Florida, and I’m sure a NIL deal awaits him on all of those potential landing spots.

It will be interesting to see where Hoggard ends up next season.
