New solutions for HPE Greenlake prepare the platform for next-generation cloud storage

HPE is bringing a host of new solutions to its Greenlake cloud platform to “future-proof” it. The updates are expected to simplify storage, data, and workload management across on-premises environments and public and private clouds.

The so-called HPE GreenLake Block Storage for Amazon Web Services (AWS) simplifies the placement of these workloads in hybrid cloud environments with software-defined storage. This provides opportunities for virtualization (faster and more reliable), integration with container environments and high-performance computing in the hybrid cloud.

The latest version, based on the HPE Alletra MP storage controller, now supports NVMe capacity of up to 5.6 petabytes (or approximately 5.6 million gigabytes). It also provides HPE Infosight AIOps with multi-stack analytics to provide more insight into workloads. This should lead, among other things, to performance improvements at all levels and optimal use of available resources.

Support for new infrastructure

Customers who prefer a self-service private cloud solution can use HPE GreenLake for Private Cloud Business Edition. This product allows them to manage all their workloads at the edge or move virtual machines between on-premises and cloud environments, to name just a few use cases. This solution now supports the 11th generation of the HPE SimpliVity infrastructure platform and the aforementioned Alletra MP storage controller.

HPE GreenLake for Private Cloud Business Edition delivers contemporary disaggregated hyperconverged architecture – a real mouthful. In short, it allows data storage, computing power or networking to be scaled independently. The solution can be deployed for both edge networks and general-purpose virtual machines and provides built-in data protection.

One less forklift upgrade

Another product the company is launching is the HPE Timeless program. This program is designed for customers who choose block storage on Alletra MP. It essentially offers an upgrade to a next-generation controller with no downtime when renewing their subscription. By choosing this “buy now, save time, save later” solution, HPE promises its customers a reduction in total cost of ownership (TCO) by an average of 30% by avoiding a crash upgrade.

HPE GreenLake Block Storage for AWS will be available in late May 2024. HPE GreenLake for Private Cloud Business Edition, with a choice of Alletra MP or SimpliVity Gen11, will be available starting in July. Regarding the HPE Timeless program, the company says it will be available during the third quarter.
