Saweetie releases summer-ready single “Nani”

Saweetie has remained a constant presence in the hip-hop world since her 2017 hit “Icy Girl.” Just this year, the “My Type” rapper collaborated with fellow Bay Area native P-Lo on “Do It for the Bay” and even took his vocals overseas with “Khutti,” a joint effort with Punjabi artist Diljit Dosanjh. Earlier this month, she released the compilation EP Nice mix Hu$tler with the recent solo single “Richtivities”.

Just a few weeks after giving up Nice mix Hu$tler, Saweetie continues her release streak with her new single “Nani.” The pop-tinged track arrives just as people are gearing up to hit the beach this summer, making it a natural fit for sunny day playlists. “’Nani’ is not just a song; it’s the soundtrack to a good time,” she said in a press release for the song. “This song (definitely) gives energy to the main character! This single has been a labor of love, and it’s only the beginning. I’ve been working on this new music for a while and I’m excited to share more of this journey with you.

Since 2021, Saweetie has repeatedly announced – then postponed – the release of her debut studio album. Pretty slutty music. Speaking about the long-awaited LP in an interview with Seduce Earlier this year, she admitted that she didn’t think the people around her were interested in her work as an artist.

“I just feel like no one cares about my music,” said the Forbes 30 winners under 30 declared. “For me, music is sacred. It comes from your mind. You can’t finish an album in a week. That’s why it’s taking me so long. That’s why I haven’t released an album yet.

However, she does not let opponents get her down or stop her from achieving her goals. “There have been many times over the last few years where I have given up on myself,” she admitted. “Whether people know it or not, I just felt like I was giving up and I don’t want to do this anymore.”
