SD Core Teams Perform Well at Last Chance Meet

MOBRIDGE, SD — Athletes from all pockets of the state traveled to north-central South Dakota for Friday’s event. (May 17, 2024) Last chance meeting.

For the boys, Mobridge-Pollock had 139 points. Lemmon (59) and Dupree (50) finished second and third, respectively. Among the girls, Herreid/Selby Area scored 99 points. Lemmon (86) and Mobridge-Pollock (82) placed second and third, respectively. Highlights of schools in central South Dakota include:

For the boys, Andrew Fulkerson of Mobridge-Pollock won the 100 meters (:11.73) and the 200 meters (:24.21). Fulkerson also ran in the winning 400-meter relay (:45.09).

Simon Fried of Mobridge-Pollock won the 300-meter hurdles (:42.03) and participated in the winning 400-meter relay. Carter Hinsz of Mobridge-Pollock won the shot put (46-7). The Mobridge-Pollock boys also won the 3,200-meter relay (8:35.59).

Gavin Hirsch from the Herreid/Selby region won the 1,600 meter race (5:00.31).

Stanley County’s Barret Schweitzer won the javelin (146-8) and teammate Paxton Deal won the long jump (20-3.5).

For the girls, Breanna Jochim of Herreid/Selby Area won the 100 meters (:13.22), long jump (16-6.5) and participated in the winning 800 meters relay (1:50, 61). HSA’s Mya Ebel won the discus with a 116-2 victory.

Mobridge-Pollock’s Ryli Thompson won the 200 meters (:27.14) and ran the winning 400 meters relay (:51.54) and the sprint medley relay (4:19.83).

Brianna Sargent of Stanley County won the 400 meters (1:03.96) and Autumn Fallis of Highmore-Harrold won the 800 meters (2:29.31).
